Organic Whole Grain Oats

Organic whole grain oats, often referred to as groats, are minimally processed food grade oat kernels that have had their inedible outer hull removed. Whole oats possess numerous attributes and versatile uses. They are high in essential nutrients like fiber, protein, and B vitamins and offer a nutrient-rich addition to a balanced diet. Their soluble fiber, particularly beta-glucan, aids in lowering cholesterol and stabilizing blood sugar levels. With a mild, nutty flavor, oat groats can be cooked to create a hearty, wholesome oatmeal or added to salads, soups, and stews. They can also be ground into oat flour for baking nutritious bread, muffins, or cookies or flaked with a domestic flaker for delicious flaked oats. The numerous uses of oats make them a pantry staple.

Oats have been cultivated for thousands of years and are believed to have originated in the Fertile Crescent. They were a staple food of ancient civilizations, including the Greeks and Romans, and were also used for medicinal purposes. Oats were brought to North America by European settlers in the 17th century, and their cultivation spread rapidly.

Food grade whole oats refer to the minimally processed, unrefined oats that retain their bran, germ, and endosperm, making them a whole grain. The inedible outer hull has been mechanically removed.  This process can damage the germ of the oats making them unsuitable for sprouting.
